Mr. Jay Scott Mr. Scott is a resident of the City of Alexandria. He is presently serving as Police Juror for District I which comprises subdivisions such as Kellyland and Walnut Grove with the largest portion of the district being England Airpark and the Garden District.
Jay graduated in 1992 from homebound schooling at Kelso Twin Cities. He joined the United States National Guard and received a ranking of E-3. He continued his education at Louisiana Technical College and graduated as a Welder, CNA and served as an Activity Director. Jay also attended Mayo’s Consulting Services where he received his certification for NDT Destructive Testing and became a Welder Inspector.
Jay is currently serving as chairman of the Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee and also serves on the Finance Committee; Public Works, Watershed and Agricultural Affairs Committee; Workforce Development and Grants Committee; Courthouse, Coliseum and Facilities Committee; Parochial Board Liaison and Municipal Liaison Committee; Personnel, Elections, Insurance and Legal Committee; and Ambulance, Fire, Health and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.
He is a member of the National Organization of County Officials and National Association of Black County Officials.
Jay is active with the residents of Rapides Parish. He has served for over eight (8) years as President of the Alexandria Little League, and as a coach for twenty (20) years. He is a team leader over unity in the community and has been involved with many community outreach programs such as: COVID-19, Homelessness, and Recreational activities. Mr. Scott believes a great listener makes you an outstanding leader. Building GREATNESS is his motto.
Jay is married to Taryn Lacour-Scott. He has three (3) sons, three (3) daughters and fifteen (15) beautiful grandchildren.
