Craig Smith

Craig Smith is a lifelong resident of Deville, Louisiana, graduating from Buckeye High School in 1979 and also attended Nashville Auto Diesel College earning a degree as a Diesel Technician.

Married to Kimberly Knight Smith. They have two children and three grandchildren.  He is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Deville and a member of Knights of Columbus.

After 30 years, he retired from H&E Equipment Rentals in Alexandria, Louisiana, and was in the construction industry for over 45 years.

Craig is currently serving his fourth term as Police Juror District C in Rapides Parish.

He is currently serving as President of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana. He served as President of Rapides Parish Police Jury in 2016,2017,2020,2021, 2022, 2025 and 2026.  He also served as Vice President of the Police Jury in 2015. Craig is a member of the Finance Committee; Public Works, Watershed and Agriculture Affairs Committee; Courthouse, Coliseum and Facilities Committee; Workforce Development and Grants Committee; Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee; Parochial and Municipal Board LiaisonCommittee; Personnel, Elections, Insurance and Legal Committee; and Insurance, Ambulance, Fire, Health and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.

Craig currently serves as Chairman of Rapides Area Planning Commission; the Louisiana Taskforce Ensuring Voter Participation in the Political Process; State Board of Election Supervisors; and LITA Corp.

He is a member of the National Association of Counties serving on R A C Steering Committee and Community; Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee; and Agriculture Steering Committee.

During his leisure time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends as well as traveling.
