Craig Smith is a lifelong resident of Deville, Louisiana, graduating from Buckeye High School in 1979. He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College earning a degree as a Diesel Technician.
For over 40 years, he has been in the construction industry. Craig has been employed with H&E Equipment Services in Alexandria, Louisiana, for 29 years as Service Manager. Craig is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Deville and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is currently serving his fourth term as Police Juror for District C, which includes all of Ward 11 and parts of Wards 9 and 10.
Craig was elected President of the Police Jury in January 2025. He was also President in 2016 and 2017, and 2020 through 2022. He was Vice President of the Police Jury in 2015.
Craig is 1st Vice President of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana. He is a Board Member of the Rapides Area Planning Commission; Chamber of Commerce; Regional Infrastructure Beltway Commission; and Transportation Policy Committee.
He is a member of the National Organization of County Officials and also serves on the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee and Rural Action Committee.
He has been a member of the Finance Committee; Public Works, Watershed and Agricultural Affairs Committee; Workforce Development and Grants Committee; Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee; Courthouse, Coliseum and Facilities Committee; Parochial Board Liaison and Municipal Liaison Committee; Personnel, Elections, Insurance and Legal Committee; and Ambulance, Fire, Health and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.
Craig is married to Kimberly Knight Smith. They have two children and three grandchildren.
During his leisure time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends as well as traveling.
