Craig Smith

Craig Smith is a lifelong resident of Deville, Louisiana, graduating from Buckeye High School in 1979.  He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College earning a degree as a Diesel Technician.

Craig is a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Deville and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

For over 40 years, he has been in the construction industry.  Craig has been employed with H&E Equipment Services in Alexandria, Louisiana, for 28 years as Service Manager.

He is currently serving his sixth term as Police Juror for District C, which includes all of Ward 11 and parts of Wards 9 and 10.

Craig was President of the Police Jury in 2016 and 2017, and 2020 through 2022; and was Vice President of the Police Jury in 2015. He is the Chairman of the Public Works, Watershed and Agricultural Affairs Committee; and is a member of the Finance Committee; the Workforce Development and Grants Committee; the Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee; the Courthouse, Coliseum and Legal Committee; the Parochial Board Liaison and Municipal Liaison Committee; the Personnel, Elections and Health Committee; and the Insurance, Ambulance, Fire and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.  

Craig is on the Rapides Area Planning Commission and is 3rd Vice President of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana.  He also serves on the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee and Rural Action Committee.

He is a member of the National Organization of County Officials.

Craig is married to Kimberly Knight Smith. They have two children, Quintin Smith, and Magan Smith Deville, both of whom are Nurses.  He has two grandchildren, Isabella, and Lexton.

During his leisure time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends.
