Oliver “Ollie” Overton

Oliver “Ollie” Overton is a lifelong resident of Alexandria and represents District F which includes a portion of the City of Alexandria and Town of Lecompte. Mr. Overton is also a Democrat.

He is a graduate of Peabody High School and the Labor Management Training Teamster Education Department at the University of Arkansas.  He is also a graduate of the Labor Management Education Department of Roadway Express and of the George Meany School of Labor.

Ollie retired from Roadway Express Freight Line, Inc. where he worked for 34 years, as a driver, sales representative, and safety and defensive driving instructor.

Ollie was Past President of the Police Jury in 2012 and Vice President in 2019 and 2020.

Ollie is currently the Chairman of the Personnel, Elections and Health Committee; and is a member of the Finance Committee; the Parochial Board Liaison and Municipal Liaison Committee; the Public Works, Watershed and Agricultural Affairs Committee; the Workforce Development and Grants Committee; the Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee; the Courthouse, Coliseum and Legal Committee; and the Insurance, Ambulance, Fire and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.

He is also a member of the National Association of Black County Officials (NABCO), and the National Association of County Officials (NACo) where he serves on the Military and Veteran Affairs Committee.  

Ollie is a member of Acme Lodge No. 43; a member of Teamsters, Joint Council #80; and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamster’s Local #568, where he served three terms as President.
