Joe Bishop is currently serving his fourth term with the Rapides Parish Police Jury. He currently serves as Police Juror for District B which is mainly in the Pineville area in Rapides Parish.
Joe currently resides in Pineville and is married to Misty Ducote Bishop. He has one daughter, Brooke Bishop and two step-daughters, Carson and Cameron Roberts. Graduate of Pineville High School in 1987 and is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pineville.
He is the Owner of Lawn Ranger Lawn Care Services. Retired from Atmos Energy where he was a Crew Foreman for over 22 years. Joe is a former member of The United Way, where he served on several panels. He has served three consecutive terms as a Pineville City Councilman, Chaired the Pineville City Council’s Legal Committee and served on its Financial Committee.
Joe has held the position of President of the Police Jury for the years of 2013 and 2014 and Vice President for the years of 2008 and 2009. He has also served on the Rapides Area Planning Commission, Chamber of Commerce, Regional Infrastructure Beltway and Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Joe is currently Chairman of the Public Works, Watershed and Agricultural Affairs Committee for the years of 2020 and 2021. Was Chairman for the Insurance, Ambulance, Fire and Homeland Security Committee for 2019. He also is a member of the Finance Committee; Workforce Development and Grants Committee; Tourism and Economic Planning and Development Committee; Courthouse, Coliseum and Legal Committee; Parochial Board Liaison and Municipal Liaison Committee; Personnel, Elections and Health Committee and Insurance, Ambulance, Fire and Homeland Security Committee of the Rapides Parish Police Jury.
Joe has been on the Executive Board for the Police Jury Association of Louisiana for the past eleven years and represents Region 8. He was President of the Police Jury Association in 2017 for the State of Louisiana. He also has served as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice President. Joe serves on the National Association of County Officials and is on the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee. Joe has also been appointed by the Louisiana Police Jury Association to the State Board of Election Supervisors and in September, 2020, Joe was appointed to the Red River Delta Law Enforcement Planning Council.
